Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com ok for gcse english... personally i don't read plays but i had to for my english gcse. the play is set in 1912 and centres around an engagement party for two of the charaters: sheila birling and gerald croft. the party is interuppted by an inspector wishing to question about the suicide of a young girl named eva smith. as the tail unfolds it seems as though all of the characters have some connection to eva smith and are jointly responsible for her suicide.
for an english gcse it is an ok play because there is a lot to write about but for enjoyment i would not recommend it. i picked this more expensive copy above the others because i used this copy at school and it has good quality paper if you want to scribble notes all over it :) Fast Efficient Amazon Service An Inspector Calls is a well known play by JB Priestley and I had the priviledge recently of seeing it on stage at the Novello Theatre in London. To refresh myself of the deails I ordered 'An Inspector Calls' from Amazon and was very impressed with their fast efficient service. Well done to all concerned
Jane Read Makes a very clear point 'An Inspector Calls' is a really interesting play that makes a very specific point and makes it very clearly. It definitely gives you something to think about as it shows how all the characters are linked and how peoples' actions affect others. You do get caught up in the play and the end is almost breathtaking. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something intelligent, yet easy to understand.
The other plays in the book don't have the same effect as this play, unfortuneately. Only 'Time and the Conways' has a resembling effect that 'An Inspector Calls' has. Nevertheless... the book is worth getting for that one play. A good supplier The book arrived in good time and was exactly as described. I would be happy to deal with them again Great play.. Didn't read this copy, but I have read the play and it's great. Although fairly old-fashioned, it's very easy to keep up with for young readers. Also came in perfect condition.
Recommended buy.
